@Saisha I have been traveling solo in India on a budget. And I find it safe. So much so that I now go to conferences talking about how we should really push ourselves, push the boundaries, take the risk, just go solo and reclaim the public space. The public space is not as unsafe as we imagine, and it would continue to be unsafe if we don’t go out and claim our space. That said, there is always a bit of risk in every thing we do. You can see this presentation I recently used in one of the conferences where I spoke about solo travel – http://www.slideshare.net/sanjuktabasu/take-risk-travel-solo-solo-travel-to-explore-gender-and-public-space

I’m only 21. So I still have some time to see more. I’ve always been reluctant, (well my parents more than me), to travel alone in India, though. What are your thoughts on traveling alone in India vs abroad?
