2023 was not an easy year for anyone, for most in fact it was a long and arduous journey. However, undeniably great music thankfully punctuated the period. Bailey Greer and Josh Croft contributed too, releasing their accomplished debut album ‘Voyager’ – a 16-track odyssey that paired appearances from scene stalwarts like Carasel and Lucy Kitchen, with next generation bright sparks such as Walk:r and Mistrust. It received support from household names in the scene such as Etherwood and Hybrid Minds, with Technimatic dropping ‘Fever Dreams (feat. Mistrust)’ at the revered Fabric and a UKF upload of the aptly-named, Zoom meeting-anthem ‘Home (feat. flowanastasia)’ too. D&B titan Wilkinson christens the launch of his new record label Sleepless Music with single ‘Frontline’, out 26th February. Pairing frantic bass energy with rapid-fire breakbeats before building to a raucous crescendo, ‘Frontline’ is a full-frontal D&B anthem that sees Wilkinson return to his roots. It marks the maiden release on Sleepless Music, an imprint that has been set up to ensure that the music always comes first for performing artists and DJs. New Zealand based nice guy Monika and American graphic designer and cat enthusiast Akuratyde have teamed up again, with their first efforts of 2021 resulting in this inviting 2-track offering. The transpacific pair have developed an unlikely friendship through the combined parallels of drum & bass and the internet over the last few years, with their first contact appearing on Monika’s ‘Himalaya’ in 2018. Autumn2020 saw a 4-track outing on Fokuz Recordings, and the duo are further building on this newfound sound with more releases lined up in the coming months, much to our delight.
